Kudos to Prof. Sunandan Baruah Sir and his team comprising Mr. Utpal Baruah, and Mr. Arup Borah for gaining crucial ground in inventing a portable nanotechnology-based system that can detect pesticides in fresh tea leaves and also minimize residual pesticides in processed tea. It was a long-standing need of the tea industry as until now there were no devices or labs available to test the pesticide content of fresh tea leaves (raw material) but after two years of research efforts by the team under the mentorship of Prof. Sunandan Baruah, they have been able to arrive at this breakthrough.
